About this wood: Myrtle (umbellularia californica), also known as California Bay Laurel, is a hardwood native to the coastal forests of California and Oregon. Myrtle wood varies highly in colour from blonde to brown, sometimes with streaks of green; some pieces exhibit figured grain. This species is rarely produced commercially due to it being particularly difficult to dry without cracking, but it can yield superb timber when done properly.

Please note that every pepper mill will be unique due to natural variation in each piece of wood.
