About this wood: Claro walnut refers primarily to the wood of juglans californica or juglans hindsii, two species endemic to California. These species and their various hybrid derivations are economically important trees used in walnut production. Claro walnut lumber is in high demand and short supply, with the majority of wood coming from orchard trees; its colour is generally more red and more varied when compared with the better-known (commercially-produced) black walnut.
Please note that every pepper mill will be unique due to natural variation in each piece of wood.
